Julie Lindow, Head Trainer

Julie, a native of Germantown who always had a love for all animals, began riding horses at the age of 8 years old. As a young adult, she discovered that she also had a love for teaching and sharing the joy of riding and developing a partnership with a horse with others.  Julie went on to earn degrees in Equestrian Science and Business from William Woods University, a school well-known for it’s excellent equine program. Over the years, she has enjoyed competing successfully as both an amateur and then a professional, taking students to numerous horse shows across the country and here in the Memphis area. She has an earned reputation for being a patient teacher who makes learning fun and loves helping each rider grow to their potential.

Now as a mother of two young children, Julie is keeping her focus closer to home and enjoys teaching riders of all ages and experience levels at Shady Creek Farm – everything from how and why we groom, how to safely mount and dismount, how to understand the horses’ body language, what is dressage, how to jump a single jump or ride a complex jumper course, how being around horses can help us learn more about ourselves than we ever realized, and how at the end of the day it’s important to relax and just enjoy a trail ride = total horsemanship.

Shirley E Netter, Trainer

Shirley rode with Julie as a child through teen years, and now we are pleased to have her back working with us as a trainer. Shirley is very patient and strives to build confidence in her students. Shirley is a avid animal lover and also helps to take excellent care of all the horses at Shady Creek. She has two of her own here – her childhood horse, Comanche, and her new mount in training, Gypsy.
